Privacy for Groups

A new feature shows that WhatsApp is securing the groups in the app, by allowing the admins decide and control over who can join the group. With this new feature, admins can click an “X” or a checkmark to either reject or approve a user. And the update will also make it easier for you to discover what groups you have in common with someone.

Extract Text from Images

WhatsApp is rolling a new feature for iOS beta users, which allows users to extract text from the images. According to a report by WaBetaInfo, the latest WhatsApp for iOS 23.5.77 update brings this ability. When users try to share an image that has a text, they’ll see a new button that lets to copy the text from the image. However, this feature might not be compatible with ‘View Once’ option, for privacy concerns.

Profile Names instead of Numbers

According to a report by WaBetaInfo, the instant messaging app has released the latest WhatsApp beta for Android update from the Play Store. The update brings improvement to the feature that WhatsApp introduced in December 2022 which swapped numbers with push names in the message bubble of group chats.

As per a screenshot shared in the report, everytime a user will receive a message from an unknown contact in a group chat, they will see a push name instead of the mobile number in the chat list. Same feature has also been released to some iOS beta testers after installing the WhatsApp beta for iOS update.

Expiration Date for Groups

WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature for iOS beta which will allow users to set an expiration date for groups. The new option will be available within group info, reports WABetaInfo. When this feature will be released, users will be able to choose from various expiration options such as one day, one week or a custom date. This feature might be helpful for the groups you have to create on planning birthday parties or functions. So, once the function is over, the group would automatically expire.

Silence Unknown Calls

WhatsApp is working on a feature called “silence unknown callers”, as per a report. This feature will enable users to silence calls from unknown numbers while still displaying them in the notification center and call list.

WABetaInfo reports that the “silence unknown callers” feature is presently being developed for WhatsApp’s Android beta version. Along with minimizing disruptions, the feature could help users avoid spam calls, making it even more advantageous.

Schedule Group Call

WhatsApp is working on a feature that allows users to schedule group calls like a meeting on Zoom or Teams. In the future update of the app, users can make a scheduled conference call with friends and family.

Search bar update

For those users who struggle to navigate through WhatsApp settings, iOS users can soon expect a search bar. “This would be a featured design to help users easily navigate through the app settings by allowing them to search for specific settings instead of having to scroll through the list,” says WABetaInfo

Editing Messages

WhatsApp is reportedly working on a feature that will give users up to 15 minutes to edit their messages to fix errors, if any, or add additional information to the original message, Wabetainfo reported.
In addition to this, the Meta-owned platform will also show a message if the feature is not supported by the WhatsApp version on your smartphone.

Users can now record and share voice messages up to 30 seconds on WhatsApp status. This might be a good update for people who wishes to sing often, singers and for sending more personal updates with really closed ones.
