Operating under the wing of the Kerala Startup Mission, Allabout Innovations Pvt Ltd has achieved a significant breakthrough in controlling the airborne spread of COVID-19. They have developed a revolutionary electronic device, the ‘Wolf Airmask,’ designed to sterilize indoor environments with unparalleled speed and effectiveness.
The Wolf Airmask’s remarkable efficacy has been rigorously validated through extensive testing conducted by the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology in Thiruvananthapuram, an ICMR-recognized testing laboratory.

Shyam Krishnan Kurup, the founder of Allabout Innovations, stated that the Wolf Airmask provides comprehensive 360-degree protection by thoroughly sterilizing the ambient air.
The Science Behind Wolf Airmask’s Efficacy
The Wolf Airmask operates by generating negative ions, which effectively bind to the spike proteins of coronavirus cells, thereby neutralizing the virus. These beneficial negative ions are naturally present in environments where water collides, during lightning strikes, or from the sun’s UV rays, among other natural phenomena.
A significant advantage of the Wolf Airmask is its ability to sterilize rooms safely even when occupied, a stark contrast to many traditional fumigation or sterilization agents that require spaces to be vacant during operation.
While some negative ion generators can produce ozone as a potentially harmful byproduct, even at very low concentrations, Shyam, the founder, emphasizes that the Wolf Airmask emits ozone at levels classified as BDL (below detection level), essentially rendering it negligible and safe for human presence.
Advanced German and Danish Technology Powers the Durable Wolf Airmask
The Wolf Airmask, developed using advanced German technology and components sourced from Denmark, boasts an impressive operational lifespan of 60,000 hours, equivalent to approximately nine years. Capable of purifying air within spaces up to 1,000 square feet, this innovative device requires no routine servicing or replacement parts, ensuring long-term, hassle-free performance.
Beyond sterilization, negative ions have also been explored for their potential benefits in alleviating depression and anxiety. A comprehensive 2013 meta-analysis, reviewing 33 studies, indicated a correlation between exposure to negative ions and a reduction in depressive symptoms, although no significant impact on sleep or anxiety was observed in those studies.
While not the first of its kind—a Pune-based startup also developed a negative ion generator for indoor virus and microbe control in March 2020—the key distinction lies in the Wolf Airmask’s dedicated focus on minimizing ozone emissions, a common byproduct of such technologies.
Availability of the Wolf Airmask Device
The Wolf Airmask currently retails for ₹25,000 plus applicable taxes for a model designed to cover an area of 1,000 square feet. Mr. Kurup indicated that a more affordable variant, suitable for spaces as compact as 250 square feet, is also under development. Allabout Innovations has already begun receiving international import orders from nations including Malaysia, Indonesia, and several countries across Europe and West Africa. Established in August 2020 and based in Alappuzha, Allabout Innovations actively collaborates with a diverse network of scientists, entrepreneurs, medical professionals, engineers, social volunteers, and commercial partners to engineer sustainable and environmentally conscious solutions.
