IIT Madras and IIT Kharagpur announces free 4-week and 12-week online course on Quantum computing & Cloud computing respectively. Via Ministry of Education & AICTE’s join collaboration called ‘Swayam’, the IITs offers the course to students.

Despite these two, Swayam offers numerous technical topics for free for students.

IIT Madras – Quantum Computing Course

IIT Madras collaborates with IBM Research & Systems, for this quantum computing lessons.

What’s the course topic? – ‘Introduction to Quantum Computing: Quantum Algorithms & Qiskit’

Duration of the course: 4 Weeks

What you will learn in this course?

Week 1: Introduction and IBM Quantum Perspective, Q Mission in India – Invited talk, Quantum Computing Applications, Quantum Computing Basics
Week 2: IBM Quantum Composer and Quantum Lab using Qiskit

Week 3: Quantum Algorithms-I (Oracles, Deustch Jozsa), Quantum Algorithms-II (Grover’s Algorithm with Hands-on)
Week 4: Quantum Error Correction, NISQ era Quantum Algorithms (VQE/QAOA and industrial applications)

Who can apply for this course?

Anyone. However, Undergraduate, Postgraduate students, researchers and even faculties from course-related departments are preferred.

Criteria to get the Certificate

Average assignment score = 25% of average of best 3 assignments out of the total 4 assignments given in Quantum Computing course.

25% of average of best 8 assignments out of the total 12 assignments given in Cloud Computing course.

Exam score = 75% of the proctored certification exam score out of 100.

Final score = Average assignment score + Exam score

Students will be provided with the e-certificate only if he/she scores >=10/25 in assignment and his/her exam score is atleast 30. If one of the 2 criteria is not met, certification won’t be available even if the Final score is above 40 out of 100.
