A new lawsuit against Google costs $23 million for the firm and people who had used Google Search between 2006 and 2013 can claim $7.70 (₹631) from the firm, it says.
Google has got itself in trouble, as a lawsuit against the firm claims that it shared users’ search history data with third party websites without their consent. The lawsuit impelled Google to agree paying for the settlement of the case, that costed the tech-giant $23 million. However, the firm asserted that it didn’t share data of users to others, refuting all the claims.
On account of this $23 million settlement, people from U.S. who used Google Search between 2006 and 2013 can claim their share of money.
Who are eligible to Claim?
People from United States who used Google Search and clicked on any blue-links in the search result in U.S. between October 26, 2006 and September 30, 2013 are eligible to claim the money under the lawsuit. If you think you had used the search and are qualified for the claim, you may participate in this settlement before July 31 as a Settlement Class member. Here is how..
How to Submit a Claim?
Those qualified in this settlement, might follow these simple steps, fill up the details and claim your money.
- Go to “refererheadersettlement.com” website.
- Click on ‘Registration Form’ page, fill up all your details and hit ‘Submit’.
- You will be receiving a Class Member ID on your mentioned email ID.
- Then, use this Class Member ID to log into Submit Claim page to claim the money.
- Ensure that you are abiding to the settlement administrator that you are eligible for the claim. The page will ask digital signature of yours.
- Upon submission, await confirmation from the settlement administrators regarding the acceptance and processing of your claim.
How much will you get from Google?
After successful submission of the claim, each approved person will be receiving $7.70 (₹631) into their bank account.
You could choose the payment method for crediting the money into your account, either mastercard or PayPal or direct deposit and more, in the “Submit Claim” page, while you are filling up.

Will you be surely getting the money?
Well, the case is not yet finalized, as the Final approval hearing is scheduled on October 12, 2023. However, in order to claim the money, you will have to “Submit Claim” before 31st July of this year.
Will I be in trouble if I do nothing?
No. If you are a Settlement Class Member and you do nothing, you will not be charged any legal action. But you will not be able to sue Google after that. In addition, you will not receive a payment from this Settlement.
Will I have to attend the Final hearing?
No. Class Counsel will answer any questions the Court may have. You may attend the hearing at your own expense, if you wish.
