How to Measure People’s Height with iPhone?

Apple lets you to measure anyone’s height with its Measure app in iPhone / iPad, that it had launched in 2016. The Measure app uses augmented reality (AR) technology to turn your device into a measuring tape. You can gauge the size of objects, automatically detect the dimensions of rectangular objects and, and indeed also save a photo of the measurement.

iPhone makes it so simple to measure people’s height instantly, just as measuring other materials dimensions.

Height Measurement in iPhone

Open the Measure app and make sure that the person you want to measure is fully visible on the screen from head to toe. After a moment, a line appears at the top of the person’s head showing the height of that person showing just below the line.

You can choose to have the measurement displayed in any units, either in feet-and-inches or in centimeters. Head on to Settings in Measure >> Measure Units and choose the unit of measurement you prefer.

The app also lets you to measure the seated height of a person. The circular photo-capture button at the bottom right allows you to take a photo of the person with height measurement and share it with them. To take the measurement again, turn iPhone away for a moment to reset the height.

Be informed that this height-measurement feature works only on Pro models of iPhone – iPhone 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max.

How iPhone does this height measurement?

Apple makes it easy to measure objects and height of a person via its Measure app leveraging the LiDAR sensor equipped in its Pro models. Abbreviated for ‘Light Detection and Ranging’, the sensor emits light waves into the surroundings and uses the time that the waves had taken to return back after hitting on objects, to calculate the distance.
