Dynamic Island feature of Apple is now available in Android too, Thanks to this App

Apple held its recent Apple Event on September 7 of this year, where it uncovered the next-gen iPhone 14 Series with exciting new features and couple of Apple Watches too with no compromise of new features. Amidst the new stuffs in the handsets, one notable style that had been widely talkable is ‘Dynamic Island’.

Dynamic Island leveraging the pill cutout of the iPhone 14 series, animates the notifications out in a smooth and clean way, that accentuates the display in a cool manner. Dynamic Island will animate in variety of ways, including live activity widgets coming to life and animations and controls for music, calls and more, in Apple’s iOS16.

When you swipe to go home, background tasks like music playback, calls will move to this island so natural, that feels as if no cutout is there, but just pop-up activity.

As Apple been the frontier of the technology over decades, it prevails so by introducing this cool feature which is now getting itself on android.

A Mi Theme developer has already implemented an Android version of Dynamic Island on a Xiaomi phone.

A short video clip shows how Dynamic Island-style notifications and music playback looks on Xiaomi’s MIUI software. The theme is reportedly called Grumpy UI and is currently available only in the standard Chinese language. Theme suits well for center-aligned punch hole devices and cornered pin-hole displays, but seldom as smooth as Apple’s.

Dynamic Island in Android

While the theme isn’t currently available worldwide, an app called ‘Dynamic Spot’, brings the new feature to all smartphones on the click of download.

Thanks to Jawomo, an Android developer who has released features like notification lights and audio redials, the iPhone 14 Pro’s newest feature, the Dynamic Island, is now available for Android users through a copycat version on Google Play.

The copycat version, called dynamicSpot, has already been downloaded more than 1,000,000 times.

“In android we have no camera islands, but camera spots / cutouts. So that’s when dynamicSpot was born,” Jawomo wrote in an online forum for developers. “iPhone’s Dynamic Island is not customizable, but dynamicSpot is! You can change interaction settings, select when to show or hide the popup or which apps should appear.”

Android phone users who have jumped on the opportunity have already flocked to the forum to share their thoughts.

According to the description on Google Play, dynamicSpot gives Android users the Dynamic Island’s ‘mini multitasking feature” and makes it easier for Android users to access recent notifications or phone status changes.

Probably, the feature could be available to several android smartphones as default pretty soon, as Xiaomi and Realme are in talks to pull up the Dynamic Island to their displays officially.
