Google is working on a Secretive AI Project that writes, repairs and updates Code by itself – To Reduce the Need of Humans

Tech-Giant Google is reportedly working on a secret artificial-intelligence project that makes AI to write, repair and update the code all by itself, without any need of human intervention. The project aims to replace human software engineers with powerful AIs.

Google profusely allocates itself on continuous research and developments and is now left with a dozen of projects under its ‘X Company’. Currently, one such project got upgraded from X Company to Google Labs in motive to trumpet the idea widely in the near future.

Google’s Secretive Project – PitchFork

“PitchFork” – which is what the secretive project is called by has now welcomed itself into Google Labs from Alphabet’s ‘X Company’, indicating that Google starts focusing on the concept to unveil it anytime soon.

The project Pitchfork uses one of the hottest today’s trends of technology – Generative AI – a tech that deploys algorithms to create images (Dall-E2), videos, make conversations (ChatGPT) and more. According to sources, the new AI project will be trained to write code, and to repair and update the code by itself, using machine learning (ML), without compromising the code quality.

Albeit, PitchFork originally was a tool that could aid software engineers in coding and improving its quality like updating Google’s Python codebase to newer versions, later Google kicks off the project in a general and global target to liquidate the need of humans for writing codes.

The idea emerged when an employee at ‘X company’ interrogated “how do we go from one version to the next without hiring all these software engineers?”.

PitchFork currently resides on Google Lab’s ‘AI Developer Assistance Team’ led by Olivia Hatalsky, who has been carrying the fork since its commence. She was also behind Google Glass and other X’s moonshot projects.
